Format Set For Thursday's Student-Trustee Forum

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- Organizers of Thursday's forum between University of Arkansas students and trustees on the home football game issue have announced the format for the event.

Open to the public, the forum will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the first-floor "living room" of the new addition to the Arkansas Union, according to Matt Lindsay, vice president of Associated Student Government. Lindsay and ASG President Angie Maxwell are the event's organizers.

The forum will begin with introductions, to be made by Lindsay and Board of Trustees Chairman Frank Oldham. A synopsis of the stadium situation also will be provided.

Afterwards, students-and only students--will be allowed to make comments or voice opinions on the situation.

"We are asking students to state their views in a dignified and professional manner," said Lindsay, " and we are limiting students to one comment each."

Students will address the pros and cons of moving at least one game to Fayetteville or keeping three games in Little Rock.

"We will ask students to get in line for their opportunity to speak," Lindsay said. "Each student will be given two minutes to present his or her case. We will go back and forth between each side until both sides run out of speakers or time has expired for this portion."

This part of the forum is expected to last between an hour to an hour and a half, he said.

In addition, both sides will have one speaker to "wrap it up." These two speakers will have 10 minutes apiece.

The final portion of the forum will allot up to 15 minutes for board members to make any comments.
