Composer to Have Works Published, Available to an International Audience

Christopher Lacy
Christopher Lacy

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Christopher Lacy, visiting assistant professor of music and director of Opera Theater at the University of Arkansas, has signed contracts with two music publishers.

An active composer, Lacy said his works have been performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Falls House Press has chosen Three Mediterranean Landscapes, a new work for flute choir and percussion, for publication in 2008. Located in New Hampshire, Falls House Press is a music publisher that specializes in music for flute. Theodore Presser, one of the largest music companies in the U.S., distributes their publications internationally.

According to Douglas Worthen, co-owner of Falls House Press, Lacy's new work stood out among the many submissions received at the press. He describes the composition as "harmonically and technically ambitious" and as "capturing moods that keep the audience and performers thoroughly engaged."

Two other recent works by Lacy have been selected for publication by Trevco Music, an Internet-based publisher and distributor of music for double reeds.

Slated for publication in spring 2008 is Lacy's Stick Figures for two clarinets and two bassoons. His Quintet for Winds will be published in the fall of 2008.

Publisher and editor Trevor Cramer of TrevCo describes Lacy's music as "innovative, refreshing and creative." He says that the new pieces are "a wonderful addition to the literature available to the double reed player and others."

Sound files for the new works can be heard at http://comp.uark.edu/~hxl02/compositions/compositions.html
