Infor Donates Supply Chain Network Design Software to University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Georgia-based software provider, Infor, has donated software licenses for Infor SCM Network Design, a supply chain planning and analysis software used by some of the world's most recognizable companies, to the University of Arkansas. Infor SCM Network Design will be implemented by the Supply Chain Management Research Center in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, as part of its ongoing research into supply chain management.

Women's Giving Circle Awards $60,000 to Campus Projects

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Six initiatives on the University of Arkansas campus were awarded grant money totaling $60,000 from the university’s Women’s Giving Circle April 18. Members of the circle consider funding proposals for campus projects on an annual basis and every member of the circle votes on which project or projects will receive funding for the current year.

University to Honor Beebe and Hunt

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On Friday, April 25, the University of Arkansas will honor Gov. Mike Beebe as this year’s Chancellor’s Medal recipient and Mrs. Johnelle Hunt as the Volunteer of the Year. The private dinner and reception will take place at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.

McAllisters Endow Piano Professorship in Fulbright College; Inaugural Holder Named

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Growing up, Emily Joyce McAllister was an award-winning pianist. She has been a church organist since the age of 15 and is a third generation church musician. While attending the University of Arkansas, she studied music - piano and organ, specifically - and she has had a successful career as a professional musician. Because of her love of music and the influence her study of piano and organ have had on her life, J.W. and Emily McAllister have endowed the Emily J. McAllister Endowed Professorship in Piano in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences with a $500,000 gift. Jura Margulis has been named the inaugural holder of the position.

Averill Foundation Funds Garvan Gardens Master Plan Review

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Trustees of the Richard W. Averill Foundation recently awarded $250,000 to Garvan Woodland Gardens, the School of Architecture’s botanical garden in Hot Springs, to fund a strategic planning study that will evaluate future goals for the 210-acre site.

University of Arkansas Financial Institute Receives Educational Grant

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Garrison Financial Institute at the Sam M. Walton College of Business received a grant from the Investor Protection Trust to introduce the basics of investing to University of Arkansas students. The grant will total more than $75,000 over a two-year period.

Access Arkansas Scholarship Established in the College of Education and Health Professions

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Guy and Ellen Brown of Fayetteville have established an Access Arkansas scholarship in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. The need-based scholarship, titled the Ellen Tarshis Brown Access Arkansas Scholarship, will be awarded to one or more nursing students each year enrolled in the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing.

University of Arkansas Career Development Center Announces Arvest Bank Sponsorship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas Career Development Center, housed within the Division of Student Affairs, has formed a corporate alliance with Arvest Bank. The $20,000 gift to the center enables Arvest Bank to have more visibility on campus and more direct connections with students who may be interested in entering the banking field after graduation. This is the first corporate sponsorship for the center at this level.

Fundraising Progress on Track at Mid-Year Point

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - At the halfway point of the 2008 fiscal year on Dec. 31, 2007, the University of Arkansas had raised $48.9 million of its $87 million goal. This total accounts for gifts received between July 1, 2007, and the end of the 2007 calendar year and excludes pledges. The more than 19,000 gifts received thus far put the university at 56 percent of the annual fundraising goal.

Seed Company Donates Combines for UA Field Research

The donation of two research plot combines by Indiana-based Stewart Seeds, Inc., to the University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture will help preserve valuable research data in eastern Arkansas, said Fred Bourland, director of field research units at Keiser and Marianna.

Chancellor Endows Access Arkansas Scholarship at the University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Chancellor John A. White and Mrs. Mary Lib White have established an endowed Access Arkansas scholarship at the University of Arkansas. The $50,000 gift is named the John Austin and Ella Mae McDermott White Future Teachers' Endowed Scholarship, in honor of Chancellor White's parents. The need-based scholarship is available to students in any academic unit whose future plans involve teaching.

ReliaSoft Corp. Joins College of Engineering to Create Risk, Reliability and Maintainability Alliance

ReliaSoft Corporation has donated $714,227 in cash and software to the University of Arkansas to form and support the ReliaSoft Risk, Reliability, and Maintainability Research Alliance. The software donation will provide engineering students with state of the art tools to help identify potential risks and calculate the severity of disruptions within a manufacturing or transportation environment. ReliaSoft Corp.'s chief executive officer, Pantelis Vassiliou, and the vice president, Doug Ogden, presented the check at a formal ceremony at the university in December.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Teresa Stafford, a former Fayetteville resident, returns to northwest Arkansas as the director of development for the School of Law at the University of Arkansas. Walton College Announces Alliance With Pitney Bowes MapInfo and Gadberry Group

Annual Programs Director to Chair International Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Susan Neyman, director of annual programs and gift services in the office of university development at the University of Arkansas, is the chair of an international conference hosted by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The conference, Successful Annual Giving: New Insights and Proven Techniques for Practical Application, will take place Nov. 26-28 in New Orleans. The conference will convene more than 200 participants representing educational institutions both public and private post-secondary, as well as independent and K-12 schools.

2008 Class Gift: Mosaic Art in the Arkansas Union

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - University of Arkansas class of 2008 voted on their gift to the university last week and the winning project is a mosaic mural to be housed in the Arkansas Union. The piece, to be titled Perspective, will depict several aspects of the university that students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends recognize and admire: Senior Walk, Old Main, the Chi Omega Greek Theatre and the diversity of the campus community.

New Softball Stadium Named Bogle Park

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The new University of Arkansas Lady Razorback softball stadium has been named Bogle Park. Bogle Park was made possible thanks to the lead gift made by Bob and Marilyn Bogle and the Bogle family who have also made significant contributions to both the university and the athletic departments over the course of many years. An event celebrating the naming was held Friday, Oct. 26.

Chesapeake Energy Establishes Scholars Program at the University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Chesapeake Energy Corp. has established the Chesapeake Scholars Program at the University of Arkansas. Chesapeake has pledged $100,000 over the next five years to provide fellowships to the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences department of geosciences that will help support graduate teaching and research assistants who are pursuing careers in energy exploration and production.

University Endowment Reaches $876.8 Million

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas endowment holdings rose to $876.8 million, more than a $100 million gain over the previous year, at the close of the 2006-07 fiscal year on June 30, 2007. One year earlier, the endowment stood at $763 million.

Wal-Mart Foundation Gives $1.5 Million to Fund Applied Sustainability Center

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sustainability is one of the 21st century's biggest business opportunities, University of Arkansas officials believe. Professor Named to Tyson Chair in Biosensing

Engineering Names New Assistant Director of Development

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Emily Williams is the new assistant director of development in the University of Arkansas College of Engineering. Band Open House, Wall Dedication

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Razorback Marching Band and the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host an open house, wall of honor dedication and reception on Saturday. The expansion of the Lewis E. Epley Jr. Band Building was part of the unprecedented success of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century. Money at Work, Changing Lives

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Every year, the Women's Giving Circle at the University of Arkansas presents grants to help fund new programs proposed by university faculty and staff. New Development Director Named

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Kellie Knight has served as the assistant director of development in the University of Arkansas College of Engineering since October 2002, and was recently named the director of development for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. Knight worked as a scholarship and endowment officer for the College of Engineering prior to beginning her career in fund raising.

Associate Director of Planned Giving Named

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Houston R. Harrison (B.S.B.A., 1991) has been named the University of Arkansas' associate director of planned giving in the Office of University Development. He will be responsible for planned giving publications and advertising, as well as cultivating and maintaining relationships with benefactors of the university. Harrison reports to Jim Harris, director of planned giving. His first day was Feb. 1.

Meredith Gift Creates Scholarships
