University of Arkansas Gifted and Talented Scholars to Hold Summer Institute Graduation FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas Gifted & Talented Scholars Program will hold its graduation ceremony for Summer Institute-Session I at 11 a.m., Friday, June 25, at the University Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Building. Dr. Suzanne McCray, associate dean of the Honors College, will be the guest speaker. At 10 a.m., students will exhibit projects and performances completed during the three-week program. Locations for exhibits and performances are:
"We are very pleased that 22 Gifted and Talented Scholars from around the state have attended this inaugural Summer Institute," said Sharon Brooks, director of Gifted & Talented Scholars and the Summer Institute. "These talented young people have been involved in challenging instructional activities, done service projects, participated in discussion groups, and gone on field trips. We are delighted with the success these students have had in this unique experience." The Summer Institute is a three-week, residential program for rising ninth, 10th and 11th grade students with exceptional academic ability. This program is designed for intellectually gifted students who are interested in programming that is academically challenging, exciting and fast-paced. Students choose a course of study in one of the general academic areas, and the courses are led by UA faculty members. Course titles for first session included Acting Without a Net: A Summer Adventure in Theatre Performance," "Cracking Codes," "The Good, the Bad, and the Genetically Engineered," and "Clarence Darrow for the Defense: Of Law, Lawyers, and Legends." ### Contact:Amber C.
