Renowned Author and Professor of Economics to Speak at School of Law this Week

Walter Block, professor and chairman of economics at Loyola University in New Orleans, will speak Jan. 20 and 21 at the invitation of the Federalist Society of the University of Arkansas School of Law.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Walter Block, professor and chairman of economics at Loyola University in New Orleans, will speak Jan. 20 and 21 at the invitation of the Federalist Society of the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Block, who has written more than 500 articles for newspapers, journals and magazines, will discuss his book, "Defending the Undefendable," at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, in room 324 of the Leflar Law Center. The book examines how far the principles of individual liberty can be pushed. At noon the following day in room 325, Block will lead a discussion on the importance of free enterprise and engage in a question and answer session.

Both the public and media are invited to attend both sessions at which Block's "Defending the Undefendable" will be on sale for $13.

Block, who earned a doctoral degree in economics from Columbia University, is also the author and editor of many books, including "Lexicon of Economic Thought, Economic Freedom of the World 1975-1995," "Rent Control: Myths and Realities" and "Discrimination, Affirmative Action, and Equal Opportunity," among others. Block is also a contributor to such journals as The Review of Austrian Economics, the Journal of Libertarian Studies, The Journal of Labor Economics, Cultural Dynamics, and the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics.
