DENNIS RECEIVES HONOR FROM NATIONAL ENGINEERING SOCIETY

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Norman D. Dennis Jr., P.E., a professor of civil engineering at the University of Arkansas, has been selected to be a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The Fellow designation is one of the most esteemed honors that civil engineers can receive from their peers.

Dennis joined the UA civil engineering department in 1996 and has received the department's annual Outstanding Teacher Award on three different occasions. He previously served in the U.S. Army and was an Academy Professor at the U.S. Military Academy.

He serves as a director of the ASCE ExCEEd (Excellence in Civil Engineering Education) national teaching effectiveness workshop and is an associate editor for the ASCE Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education & Practice. Dennis is a distinguished lecturer-visiting scholar for the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.

Founded in 1852, ASCE is the oldest national engineering society in the United States, representing more than 120,000 civil engineers around the world.
