ALCOHOL AWARENESS WEEK TO BEGIN ON UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS CAMPUS ON OCTOBER 28

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Alcohol Awareness Week (AAW) will kick off at the University of Arkansas Monday, October 28, with a multitude of activities to be held throughout the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 1.

Monday, the "Bucks Brothers," two workers from the Health Promotions department, will walk around campus asking students alcohol-related questions. They will present each student a $1 coin for answering correctly.

Tuesday, the University Health Center gorilla will be loose on campus distributing candy and red ribbons in support of AAW, while wearing a sandwich board with an informative message regarding alcohol use.

Wednesday, Alcohol Jeopardy will be played in the Arkansas Union Connections lounge from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Answering a question correctly enables students to enter their names for a door prize.

Thursday (Halloween) will feature RESPECT Halloween. RESPECT, Rape Education Services by Peers Encouraging Conscious Thought, is a sexual assault prevention education group that works with the University Health Center's STAR Central program and is a group of student peer educators committed to stopping rape and sexual violence. RESPECT will be represented at a table in the area between the Arkansas Union and the library. The day will include many numerous activities, including music and a chance to win prizes.

Friday, students will be encouraged to participate in writing down on a board other ways to have fun that don't involve alcohol.
