CONNEELY WINS SACSA'S TOP AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- Dr. James F. Conneely, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Arkansas, has been presented the H. Howard Davis Sr. Award for outstanding service to the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA).

The H. Howard Davis Sr. award was presented earlier this month at SACSA's annual conference in Biloxi, Miss. Conneely just finished his term as immediate past president of the organization. Established in 1978, the Davis award honors the man who personified devoted service to SACSA and who, dating from the 1960s, was a strong voice for the inclusion of all student affairs professionals in association activities.

Conneely continues to serve as vice chair of the SACSA Foundation. He has served SACSA in a variety of posts, including the executive council (1999-2002); president (2000-01); chair of its Blue Ribbon Task Force (2000); a faculty member at its New Professionals Institute (1999) and Mid-Managers Institute (2002); treasurer and executive council (1996-98); chair of its foundation development committee (1995-96); chair of its annual conference program committee (1994-95); and a member of the review board for the Journal of College Student Affairs (1993-98).

Conneely, who received his Ph.D. from Georgia State University, won SACSA's dissertation of the year award in 1992.

Conneely has been on the student affairs staff at the University of Arkansas since 1993.
