Former U.S. Surgeon General to Speak at UA Law School

WHAT:  An address by former U.S. Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders on public health policy issues during the President Bill Clinton administration.

WHO:  Dr. Elders was appointed by President Clinton to become surgeon general of the Public Health Service in 1993 where she was the first African-American to serve in the position. She resigned as surgeon general 1994 and returned to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences as a professor of pediatrics. She is currently a professor emeritus in the College of Medicine and distinguished professor in the College of Public Health at UAMS.

WHEN: 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005.

WHERE: Room 328 of the Leflar Law Center at the University of Arkansas School of Law.

ADDITIONAL INFO: The media and public are invited to attend the lecture. Visitor parking is available in the Union parking deck on Stadium Dr.
