SPACE STILL AVAILABLE IN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING SUMMER PROGRAMS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - There is still time to register for summer programs offered by the University of Arkansas College of Engineering. Designed for middle- to high school students interested in learning more about the engineering profession, the camps provide on-campus housing and access to engineering facilities, faculty and students.

The Summer Engineering Experience (SEE) Camp will be held July 20-26 and is open to students going into the 7th - 11th grades. Participants in the one-week residential program attend workshops designed to help them with communication skills and computer fundamentals, and introduces them to engineering career opportunities. In order to better understand college life, campers are exposed to college programs and have many opportunities to visit with engineering students. Cost for the camp is $350 per participant.

The Minority Introduction to Engineering (MITE) program is a one-week summer residential program for under-represented minority high school juniors who will be seniors in high school this fall. Participants attend communication and computer fundamentals workshops and are exposed to the different engineering disciplines with the College. Sponsored by the Alcoa Foundation, the 20 students who are selected for MITE attend the program at no charge.

To register by the July 17 deadline, or for more information about the Summer Engineering Experience Camp or the Minority Introduction to Engineering program, please contact Thomas Carter III at (479) 575-3051 or tic@engr.uark.edu.
