Wal-Mart Tees Up to Benefit Black Alumni Society Endowed Scholarship

The Black Alumni Society of the University of Arkansas and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will host the "Triumphant Return" Endowed Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Lost Springs Golf Course in Rogers, April 28.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Black Alumni Society of the University of Arkansas and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will host the "Triumphant Return" Endowed Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Lost Springs Golf Course in Rogers, April 28.

The tournament will kick off the Endowed Scholarship Giving Campaign and the 7th Black Alumni Society Reunion, "A Triumphant Return," scheduled April 28 to May 1 on the University of Arkansas campus.

Golf tournament sponsorships and net proceeds from the five-day "Triumphant Return" reunion will benefit the Black Alumni Society Scholarship Endowment, which currently provides scholarships to four African-American students. "The goal is to increase the number of student beneficiaries to 15 and our endowment by at least $70,000," said Angela Mosley Monts, assistant director for constituent societies at the Arkansas Alumni Association and Black Alumni Society coordinator.

"Through our support of the Black Alumni Society's Endowed Scholarship Golf Tournament we are honored to have the opportunity to provide scholarships to deserving African-American students," said Tice White, manager of African American Markets, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. "We salute the members of the Black Alumni Society for their commitment to higher education."

The golf tournament is limited to 144 golfers. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 28. The 18-hole four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded.

For more information about the golf tournament, the "Triumphant Return" reunion, or sponsorship opportunities, visit www.arkalum.org or contact Angela Mosley Monts at 1-888-ARK-ALUM, (479) 575-2812 or mmonts@uark.edu.
