FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Coby Warren Logan, a student in the University of Arkansas School of Law, won first place recently in the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section's 2005 Annual Law Student Writing Competition.

For winning the event, Logan, a second-year law student from Benton, Ark., received a $1,500 cash prize, as well as airfare and three nights accommodations in Chicago at the ABA's annual meeting Aug. 4-7. With the editor-in-chief's approval, Logan's submission could also be published in the TIPS Law Journal.

Logan's paper, "Federal Class Action Reform Legislation: The 'Unfair' Approach to Addressing the Issues of Modern Mass Tort Litigation," was originally submitted to professor Robert B. Leflar and his products liability class during the fall 2004 semester.

Logan was recently appointed law student vice-chair of the ABA's TIPS Products, General

Liability & Consumer Law Committee and lieutenant governor for regulations and by-laws for the 10th circuit of the ABA/SBA.
