DR. SAMUEL TOTTEN APPOINTED AS BOOK REVIEW EDITOR OF GENOCIDE RESEARCH

Dr. Samuel Totten, professor of Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Education & Health Professions, has been appointed as the Book Review Editor for the scholarly journal Genocide Research.

"Dr. Totten's contributions to the study of genocide and the Holocaust are tremendous," said Dean of the College Charles Stegman. "Because of the depth of his studies and his dedication to the subject, he has earned an international reputation as an expert on genocide and the Holocaust. The College is delighted to celebrate this accomplishment with him."

Dr. Totten is the editor of several noteworthy texts on the Holocaust including Century of Genocide: Eyewitness Accounts and Critical Views (1997), Genocide in the Twentieth Century: Critical Essays and Eyewitness Testimony (1995), and First Person Accounts of Genocidal Acts Committed in the Twentieth Century (1991). He has also served as an editor and contributor for many academic journals and has written numerous articles and essays on various aspects of genocide as well as genocide and Holocaust education. Most recently Totten served as co-associate editor of the Encyclopedia of Genocide (Santa Barbara, CA: ABC Clio Press, 2000).

Dr. Totten is currently working on several new books: Teaching the Holocaust (Needham Heights, MA: Allyn and Bacon Publishers, 2000), Teaching Holocaust Literature (Needham Heights, MA: Allyn and Bacon Publishers, 2000), and Pioneers of Genocide Studies (Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 2002).

Dr. Totten, who earned his Ed. D. from Columbia University in 1985, has been a member of the University of Arkansas faculty since 1987.
