Food, Human Nutrition and Hospitality Students to Prepare Jamaican Dinner A Jamaican dinner will be offered Monday, Oct. 2, at Ella's Restaurant in Carnall Hall. The popular dinner meal features students in the food preparation class within the concentration of food, human nutrition and hospitality. Each week, the class develops the menu, prepares and serves the meal, based on reservations from the local community. Culinary artist Travis Maier and Ella's management will assist the students in preparing the dinner. This opportunity will allow the students to get the "real world" experience in managing a restaurant. The dinner will feature students Danielle Hammond and Jessica Sandfort with the menu, "Jamaica Me Crazy Night." The three-course meal will include a Jamaican garden salad, made with fresh mixed greens with mango, tomato, cilantro and avocado tossed in creamy ginger and cracked pepper vinaigrette; an entrée of Jerk Spiced Chicken served over black bean rice pilaf with breaded okra and Jamaican spiced buns. The dessert will be a rum pound cake with sorbet. The cost of the dinner is $12 plus tax and will be served at 5 p.m. For reservations, please call Nola at 575-3245. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve availability with limited seating.
