Adding More Expertise to Research Center

One of Forbes "top 200 best small companies" joins UA Supply Chain Management Research Center.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Knight Transportation Inc., recognized by Forbes as one of the "top 200 best small companies" for the past 12 consecutive years, has joined the board of the Supply Chain Management Research Center in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

Tim Kohl, president of Knight Transportation, will represent the company on the Supply Chain Management Research Center board. Kohl said "We feel honored to have been asked to join the UA Supply Chain Management Research Management Center board and be able to participate with the University of Arkansas SCMRC management and such a distinguished group of companies. We plan on being an active contributing member, and see this as an opportunity to continue learning and improving our service in the supply chain network."

Knight Transportation will benefit from working with today's thought leaders in supply chain management, by getting the chance to sit in on roundtable discussions, annual conferences, and recruit the best and brightest students from the Walton College.

Jim Crowell, managing director of the Supply Chain Management Research Center, said, "We are pleased to have Knight Transportation as our 26th board member. This allows us a better insight into the business community and helps us increase the level of excellence we provide in our programs for students and the research of our faculty."

Knight Transportation Inc., based in Phoenix, Ariz., is a truckload carrier offering services to its customers through three complementary businesses, Knight Transportation, Knight Refrigerated, and Knight Brokerage. The principal types of freight transported include consumer staples, paper products, packaging/plastics, manufacturing and import/export commodities. Knight's common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KNX.

The Supply Chain Management Research Center in the Walton College was established in 1996 and supports transportation and logistics faculty, student career fairs, and research with business and industry. Its mission includes serving as a public university research center and providing industry education and student support.
