Morris (B.A. 1959, M.A. 1969) of Fayetteville, Ark., spent his career teaching history at Wharton Community College in Wharton, Texas, 50 miles southwest of Houston. He returned to Fayetteville in 2000, and taught part-time at Northwest Arkansas Community College before retiring in 2008. Because of Morris&rsquo; dedication to education and a belief that every student has the potential to be successful, he has funded five Access Arkansas scholarships at the University of Arkansas for students who struggle to meet the financial obligations of higher education.]]></description>

He took a break to earn his doctoral degree and returned to teach another six years in Fayetteville. At that point, he joined the faculty at the University of Texas in Austin where he taught until retiring in 1996. In addition to teaching, Stice also directed UT&rsquo;s Center for Teaching Effectiveness. His passion for this area has resulted in a planned gift of two gift annuities totaling $50,000 to the Ralph E. Martin department of chemical engineering at the University of Arkansas to provide professors with valuable training in teaching effectiveness. <span style="font-size: 12pt;"><br />

Johnson has a doctorate from the University of Kentucky and additional degrees from East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina. Johnson&rsquo;s field is biomechanics. His background includes previous positions at Georgia State University, liaison to the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission and co-chair of the committee for biomechanics for the Olympic games in Atlanta, and interim director for Sports Medicines, Science and Technology. The program is made possible by a grant from the Investor Protection Trust. Facilitators should not be financial professionals, but should have good people skills and be interested in retirement investment issues. Volunteers will receive one day of training and a free 12-month subscription to <em>Kiplinger</em>&rsquo;s retirement report, a $60 value. The Garrison Financial Institute is housed in the Sam M. <description><![CDATA[University of Arkansas student-athletes that entered school in a four-year period from 1999-2002 had a graduation success rate of 70 percent according to the most recent numbers released by the NCAA on Wednesday. The graduation success rates for all NCAA institutions were released on Wednesday as well as the six-year Federal Graduation rate for each institution. The most recent federal graduation rate for the University of Arkansas, 49 percent, is based on scholarship student-athletes that enrolled full time in 2002.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[The University of Arkansas department of mathematical sciences and the Fayetteville High School department of mathematics are sponsoring an educational outreach activity: free math tutoring for all the Fayetteville High School students. The department of mathematical sciences has selected a number of undergraduate math majors, who have been trained in tutoring by Brian Rickard of the Enhanced Learning Center and who have then proceeded to&nbsp; 'shadow' math teachers at Fayetteville High School.&nbsp; After this training, the students have begun their tutoring activity. The department of mathematical sciences plans to continue this outreach activity through the spring semester and in future years, possibly extending it to other high schools and middle schools in the area.]]></description>
